Teeth need to be removed for a number of reasons:
- Wisdom teeth if symptomatic, or on a poor eruption path
- Excessive decay, preventing an adequate repair
- Dental infection that a root canal is not anticipated to resolve
Sometimes, if the tooth being extracted is going to be replaced by a dental implant or a bridge, a bone graft may be placed in order to preserve the contour and bulk of the jaw bone in that location, lending itself to a better functional or esthetic outcome, however this varies by individual. Regardless of the reason for your extraction, the procedure will be done comfortably and with compassion, and we do offer laughing gas to those patients who would like to ‘take the edge off’ during these (or any) procedures.
